Point defect dynamics and evolution of chemical reactions in alanates by anelastic spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The first measurements of elastic modulus and energy dissipation in Ti-doped and undoped sodium aluminum hydride is reported. A demonstration that the chemical reactions that occur by varying the sample temperatures or by aging sensitively affect the elastic constants, such that the modulus variations allow the time and temperature evolution of decomposition to be monitored is presented.

Synchrotron X-ray studies of Al(sub 1-y)Ti(sub y) formation and re-hydriding inhibition in Ti-enhanced NaAlH4

Article Abstract:

NaAlH4 samples with Ti additives are investigated by synchrotron X-ray diffraction in order to unveil the nature of Ti. It is found that no crystalline Ti-containing phases were observed after ball milling of NaAlH4 with the additives, neither as solid solution in NaAlH4 nor as secondary phases.

Rehydrogenation of dehydrogenated NaAlH(sub 4) at low temperature and pressure

Article Abstract:

It is shown that there are two distinct dehydrogenation steps after rehydrogenation of sodium aluminium hydride NaAlH(sub 4). It is reported that rehydrogenation may be possible at moderate conditions by optimizing the doping materials, temperature and hydrogen pressure.
