Preparation and in-situ spectroscopic characterization of molecularly dispersed titanium oxide on silica

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the surface structures of the molecularly dispersed TiO2/SiO2 supported oxides. The TiO2/SiO2 supported oxides were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation of 2-propanol solutions of titanium isopropoxide. Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis-NIR DRS, Raman spectroscopy and XANES spectroscopy were used to examine the surface structures under varying conditions. Results provide a fundamental understanding of the interaction of titanium oxide with the silica surface.

Interactions between surface vanadate and surface sulfate species on metal oxide catalysts

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze interactions between surface sulfate and surface vanadate species present on sulfated supported vanadia catalysts in dehydrated environments. Infrared and Raman spectroscopies were utilized to carry out the analysis. The vanadium oxide overlayers were made on the oxide support using the incipient wetness impregnation technique. Experimental results indicated that the amount of adsorbed sulfate species decreased with the coverage of the support by vanadia species.

A comparison of ultraviolet and visible Raman spectra of supported metal oxide catalysts

Article Abstract:

The molecular structures of supported metal oxide species are studied using Ultraviolet (UV) and visible Raman spectroscopy. The study concluded that the large body of Raman spectra from catalysts measured using visible lasers should be very useful for interpreting new measurements using ultraviolet lasers.
