Products and reaction sequences in tetrahydrofuran exposed to low-energy electrons

Article Abstract:

Electron-simulated reactions in solid films of tetrahydrofuran (THF), condensed on Kr spacers deposited on a Pt substrate, or directly onto the substrate, were induced and monitored simultaneously. The spectra of the molecular films obtained after a certain time of exposure to electrons at incident energies of 14 and 15.5 eV were analyzed and different products were identified.

Bond formation in reactions of solid cyclopropane induced by low-energy electrons

Article Abstract:

The experiments were conducted on the reactions of cyclopropane and propene in the condensed phase and monitored using high-resolution electron energy loss spectrometer. Results revealed that propene is identified as the major initial reaction product from its characteristic vibrational bands.

Absolute cross sections for the electron-induced formation of unsaturated hydrocarbons from solid cyclopropane

Article Abstract:

The electron-induced isomerization reactions in solid multilayer film of cyclopropane from propene, in the condensed phase, are determined by a high-resolution electron-energy-laws spectrometer (HREEL), by monitoring both vibrational and electronic excitations of propene.
