Metal-support interaction and redox behavior of Pt(1 wt %)/Ce(sub 0.6)Zr(sub 0.4)O(sub 2)

Article Abstract:

The catalyst Pt(1 wt %)/Ce(sub 0.6)Zr(sub 0.4)O(sub 2) is studied by CO-temperature programmed reduction (CO-TPR), isothermal oxygen storage complete capacity (OSCC), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). XAS analysis allows one to evidence the formation of a platinum-cerium alloy in redox-aged samples and the stability of the metal particles toward oxidation and sintering during high-temperature treatments.

Enhanced reducibility of Ce(sub 1-x)Ti(sub x)O2 compared to that of CeO2 and higher redox catalytic activity of Ce(sub 1-x-y)Ti(sub x)Pt(sub y)O(sub 2-delta)

Article Abstract:

Nanocrystalline Ce(sub 1-x)Ti(sub x)O2 (0<=x<=0.4) and Ce(sub 1-x-y)Ti(sub x)Pt(sub y)O(sub 2-delta) (x = 0.15, y = 0.01, 0.02) solid solutions crystallizing in fluorite structure is prepared by a single step solution combustion method. Ce(sub 1-x-y)Ti(sub x)Py(sub y)O(sub 2-delta) has showed higher rates of CO, C2H2, C2H4 and C3H8 oxidation activity compared to Ce(sub 1-x)Pt(sub x)O(sub 2-delta).
