Promoting photochromism on flavylium derived 2-hydroxychalcones in aqueous solutions by addition of CTAB micelles

Article Abstract:

A general strategy to optimize the photochromic response of the network of species originated by flavylium compounds in aqueous solutions useful for amino groups is described. The demonstration is based on strong interaction of the trans-chalcone of 7-(N,N-diethylamino)-4'-hydroxyflavylium with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelles and the repulsive interaction of flavylium anion with the positively charged surface of the micelle.

Intermolecular excimer formation in a tripod polyamine receptor containing three naphthalene fluorophores

Article Abstract:

The energetic and dynamics of a new fluorescent sensor constituted by a tripodal polyamine receptor containing three napthalene fluorophores, compound L is investigated. The influence of external factors such as the solvent, hydrogen ion concentration and temperature in the photophysics of the sensor is also discussed.

Experimental and theoretical investigations of environmentally sensitive single-molecule fluorophores

Article Abstract:

The environmental sensitivity of the dicyanodihydrofuran (DCDHF) class of fluorophores across a range of protic and aprotic solvents are experimentally evaluated. The fluorescence quantum yield of the DCDHF follows a linear relationship with viscosity in protic solvents.
