Relation between the mechanical properties and topology of cross-linked polymer molecules: parallel strands maximize the strength of model polymers and protein domains

Article Abstract:

The response of cross-linked polymer chains under tensile loading is been simulated to identify the topologies of polymer molecules, and it is found that chain configurations that maximize the unfolding work and force, involve parallel strands. Simulations of the stretching of protein domains were performed with Tinker molecule dynamic software.

Raman spectroscopic study of pressure effects on the spin-crossover coordination polymers Fe(pyrazine) [M(CN)(sub 4)].2H2O (M = Ni, Pd, Pt). First observation of a piezo-hysteresis loop at room temperature

Article Abstract:

The spin state of a series of cyanide-bridged iron(II) spin-crossover coordination polymers of formula Fe(pyrazine) [M(CN)(sub 4)].2H2O (M = Ni, Pd, Pt) were studied by recording their solid-state Raman spectra at room temperature as a function of pressure and a reproducible piezo-hysterrsis loop was observed at room temperature for the Ni complex.
