Reductive electron transfer quenching of MLCT excited states bound to nanostructured metal oxide thin films

Article Abstract:

Study was conducted to prepare Ru(II) coordination compounds with long-lived strongly oxidizing, excited states that can be anchored to semiconductor surfaces for applications in dye-sensitized photogalvanic cells. The products of reductive electron-transfer reactions at sensitized semiconductor interfaces are studied.

Tuning open circuit photovoltages with tripodal sensitizers

Article Abstract:

The tripodal Ru sensitizers were anchored to mesoporous nanocrystalline (anatase) TiO2 thin films and studied in regenerative solar cells. The findings show that control of the sensitizer-TiO2 orientation is important for efficient power optimization.

Excited state electron transfer from Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes anchored to nanocrystalline TiO2 through rigid-rod linkers

Article Abstract:

Rigid-rod linkers varying in length are used to bind Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes to the surface of TiO2 and of ZrO2 nanoparticle thin films. The linkers are made of p-phenyleneethynylene bridges carrying two COOR anchoring groups at the end.
