Fractal Structures in Homo-and Heteroaggregated Water Soluble Porphyrins

Article Abstract:

The mesoscopic structures resulting on (i) the self-aggregation of the anionic porphyrin tetrakis (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphine [H2TPPS4 (super 4-)] and (ii) its heteroaggregates with the cationic tetrakis (4-N-methylpyridinium) porphine [H2TMpyP (4)(super 4+) or some of its metal derivatives, under various experimental conditions are investigated through elastic light-scattering technique. The presence of large clusters described in terms of fractual geometry is observed.

Role of counteranions in acid-induced aggregation of isomeric tetrapyridylporphyrins in organic solvents

Article Abstract:

A study investigates the effect of adding various kinds of acids HX (X = Cl, Br, I, CF3COO, CF3SO2, TFPB ((3,5-(CF3)2C6H3)4B) to isomeric tetra(2-pyridyl)porphyrin, tetra(3-pyridyl)porphyrin, and tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TpyP(2), Tpy P(3), and TpyP(4)) in dichloromethane solution. These investigations are done by combined use of UV/ vis absorption, fluorescence emission, and resonance light scattering (RLS) techniques.
