Sensing the physicochemical nature of He and Ne in micropores by adsorption measurements

Article Abstract:

He and Ne in contact with molecular sieves in the form of crystalline A zeolites and amorphous carbon molecular sieves fiber (CMSF) are studied. The performance of adsorption isotherms and dead space measurements on prudently selected samples was possible because of the results of the studies that established the status of aperture closure for He and Ne in CMSF and A zeolites versus sample temperature.

A new route of oxygen isotope exchange in the solid phase: Demonstration in CuSO4.5H2O

Article Abstract:

A new isotopic oxygen exchange route is demonstrated between water of crystallization and a sulfate ion in the solid state, where the exchange occurs between the fifth anionic water molecule and the hydrogen-bonded oxygen atoms of the sulfate ion. The new oxygen exchange phenomenon is not exclusive to copper sulfate, as it is also observed in other sulfate- and nitrate-containing minerals.

(super 129)Xe and (super 131)Xe NMR gas adsorption on single- and multi-walled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

(super 129)Xe and (super 131)Xe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to study the adsorption of xenon gas on as-produced single-walled and multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Temperature-dependent spectra, relaxation times, line widths, and signal intensities provide evidence that xenon forms a multilayer bulk phase rather than a homogenous surface coating.
