Single-chain compaction of long duplex DNA by cationic nanoparticles: Modes of interaction and comparison with chromatin

Article Abstract:

A combination of fluorescence microscopy (FM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is used to study the compaction of long duplex DNA by cationic nanaoparticles (NP) that are commonly used as a primary model of the histone core particles. The analysis has revealed that the amount of DNA adsorbed per particle has depended weakly on the NP concentration, whereas it is highly affected by an increase in the particle size.

Development of a fitting model suitable for the isothermal titration calorimetric curve of DNA with cationic ligands

Article Abstract:

A novel curve fitting model is developed for the isothermal titration calorimetry (TTC) of a cationic ligand binding to DNA, cobalt hexamine and a polymeric cation poly(ethylene glycol)poly(L-lysine) block copolymer (PEG-PLL) systems. The novel curve fitting model has taken into account the uncertainty on the relationship of the binding constants and is highly flexible for the two-variable binding constant system.

Tethered particle motion as a diagnostic of DNA tether length

Article Abstract:

The tethered particle motion (TPM) technique is used as a diagnostic tool for measuring the DNA tether lengths. The results have shown that TPM can be used as a tool for monitoring large conformational changes such as DNA looping.
