Slow back electron transfer in surface-modified TiO2 nanoparticles sensitized by alizarin

Article Abstract:

An investigation conducted to determine the effect of surface modification on the back electron transfer (BET) reaction of Alz-sensitized TiO2 nanoparticles using the femtosecond transient absorption technique in the visible and near-IR region is presented. It is shown that on surface modification, the rate of the BET reaction can be reduced drastically in the dye-sensitized TiO2 nanoparticle system.

Ultrafast intermolecular electron transfer dynamics: Perylene in electron-accepting micellar medium

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of ultrafast photoinduced intermolecular electron transfer from the excited singlet state of perylene to an electron-accepting cationic surfactant molecule namely N-cetylpyridinium chloride in aqueous micellar solutions is investigated using the femtosecond transient absorption technique with temporal resolution of 120 fs.

Effect of molecular structure on interfacial electron transfer dynamics of 7-N,N-dimethyl coumarin 4-acetic acid (DMACA) and 7-hydroxy coumarin 4-acetic acid (HCA) sensitized TiO2 and ZrO2 nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

The effect of molecular structure on interfacial electron transfer dynamics of 7-N,N-dimethyl coumarin 4-acetic acid (DMACA) and 7-hydroxy coumarin 4-acetic acid (HCA) sensitized TiO2 and ZrO2 nanoparticles is studied. Sub-picosecond transient absorption spectroscopy is used for this purpose.
