Solution and solid-state spectra of quinacridone derivatives as viewed from the intermolecular hydrogen bond

Article Abstract:

The electronic structures of quinacridones were investigated with special attention to the role of intermolecular NH...O hydrogen bonds for three representative quinacridone compounds with different hydrogen-bond forming characteristics. The hydrogen bonds were found to align the transition dipoles in a head-to-tail fashion and displace the absorption band toward longer wavelengths due to excitonic interactions.

Electronic structure of thiazine-indigo pigment on the basis of the crystal structure

Article Abstract:

Electronic structure of thiazine-indigo pigment is investigated on the basis of the crystal structure. The large bathochromic shift upon crystallization can be mostly attributed to interactions between transition dipoles arranged diagonally along the stacking axis as well as those arranged in a head-to-tail fashion on the molecular plane.
