Stable gas-phase radical cations of dimeric tryptophan and tyrosine derivatives

Article Abstract:

An experiment was carried out to show that dimeric radical cations of tryptophan and tyrosine derivatives could be generated by collision-induced dissociation of copper(II) complexes formed via electrospray. The results of experiments with a derivative of the methyl ether of tyrosine, a derivative that deters hydrogen bonding, are in accordance with an interpretation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding (between ligands) within the dimeric radical cations.

Transition between icosahedral and cuboctahedral nanoclusters of lead

Article Abstract:

The possible transition between icosahedral (ico) and cuboctahedral (fcc) structures in lead nanoclusters of sizes up to 309 atoms was studied by ab inito methods. Spontaneous fcc-to-ico transition in [Pb.sub.13] was observed in the ab inito molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and the calculated energy surface of the transition in [Pb.sub.13] showed that the transition is barrierless.

Formation of abundant [Pb(H2O)](super 2+) by ligand-exchange reaction between [Pb(N2)n](super 2+) (n= 1-3) and H2O

Article Abstract:

Abundant [Pb(H2O)](super 2+) is formed in the gas phase by ligand-exchange reaction between [Pb(N2)n](super 2+) (n= 1-3) and H2O after collisional activation. Density functional theory is used to examine the ligand-exchange reaction profile.
