Starlink debate goes global

Article Abstract:

The controversy surrounding StarLink corn has reached Asia. Japanese and South Korean researchers have announced their discovery of StarLink corn in tortilla chips and cake mixes sold in the countries. StarLink corn has not been approved for human consumption in the US. Aventis has engaged in a buyback program with growers, attempting to prevent the corn from being used in consumer products. Since the discovery of StarLink corn in their foods, South Korea and Japan have curtailed their purchases of US corn.

Ag-Chem issues safety alert

Article Abstract:

Ag-Chem Equipment Co is asking users of its RotoGator self-propelled agricultural sprayers to follow safety measures to decrease the risk of an accidental injury due to the RotoGator's cast iron axle failure problem. The company said the Valmet BB5 cast-iron axles sustain stress fractures when used and can cause some axles to break completely. This can result in loss of operational control with the wheel rolling away and injuring bystanders.
