Structure of nanocrystalline alkali metal manganese oxides by the atomic pair distribution function technique

Article Abstract:

The atomic scale structure of two nanocrystalline K-Li-Mn-O-I materials obtained through Chimie Douce route in aqueous and acetone solutions are determined by using X-ray diffraction and atomic Pair Distribution Function technique. Some methodological aspects of the atomic pair distribution function technique and its applicability to study the structure of crystalline and nanocrystallinematerilas are described.

Thermotropic mesomorphic behavior of surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate hybrids

Article Abstract:

The novel organic-inorganic hybrid liquid crystalline materials, the complexes of surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate clusters (SECs), are investigated using thermal, X-ray diffraction and FT-infrared spectroscopic analyses. The temperatures of the first three phase transitions of SECs are found to be independent of the polyoxometalate (PM) charges.

Self-assembled multibilayers of europium alkanoates: Structure, photophysics, and mesomorphic behavior

Article Abstract:

A series of europium alkanoates (C(sub n-1)H(2n-1)CO2)3Eu, were synthesized and characterized in detail. The results revealed that all samples exhibit characteristic emission of europium though the luminescent intensity was partly quenched by the carboxylate groups.
