Structures of molybdenum species in silica-supported molybdenum oxide and alkali-ion-modified silica-supported molybdenum oxide

Article Abstract:

The structures of the silica-supported molybdenum oxide (MS), MoO3/SiO2, and the alkali-ion-modified MoO3/SiO2 were examined using molybdenum K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. A photocatalytic behavior was demonstrated by the MoO3/SiO2 under ultraviolet light irradiation and the compound catalyzed the photo-oxidation of propane and the photo-assisted metathesis of propene. Spectroscopical results revealed that MS showed an intense pre-edge peak similar with K2MoO4 with only a tetrahedral MoO4 unit and that molybdenum species in MS was monomeric.

Acidic property of FSM-16

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the acidic characteristics of FSM-16, a mesoporous silica supporting narrow pore size distribution, high specific surface area and high thermal stability. But-1-ene isomerization was carried out under a closed circulation system. A quadrupole-type mass spectrometer was used to determine NH3 measurements. Experimental results indicated that the catalytic activity of FSM-16 correlated with pretreatment temperatures.

Alumina-supported rare-earth oxides characterized by acid-catalyzed reactions and spectroscopic methods

Article Abstract:

Temperature-programmed desorption and FTIR techniques were used for investigating the acid-base properties of alumina-supported rare-earth oxides with (alpha)-pinene isomerization and 2-butanol decomposition. The structural characterization was carried out with the help of XRD, Raman, and XAFS spectroscopies.
