Surface-enhanced photopolymerization of a diacetylene derivative in Langmuir-Blodgett films on a silver island film

Article Abstract:

Surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectroscopy was used to study the photopolymerization process of one monolayer of a Langmuir-Blodgett film of the cadmium salt of a 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid prepared on an evaporated silver island film having a mass thickness of 60 angstroms. Results indicated that the photopolymerization reaction of the monolayer exhibits a blue-to-red phase transition. Moreover, the photopolymerization on the SERS-active substrate proceeds faster than that on the smooth substrate.

Metal ion modulated organization and function of the Langmuir-Blodgett films of amphiphilic diacetylene: Photopolymerization, thermochromism, and supramolecular chirality

Article Abstract:

The study investigated some novel properties of organized molecular films of 10,12-tricosadiynoic acid (TDA), which were modulated by transition metal ions. It concluded that metal ions such as Cu(super 2+), Zn(super 2+), Ni(super 2+), Cd(super 2+), and Ag(super +) in the subphase can greatly affect the monolayer formation of TDA and the properties of the subsequently deposited Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films, particularly in the case of Ag(super +), Zn(super 2+), and Cu(super 2+) ions.

Large mass independent sulfur isotope fractionations during the photopolymerization of 12CS(sub 2) and 13CS(sub 2)

Article Abstract:

The photopolymerization of 13CS(sub 2) yields [13CS(sub 2)]x that has a distinct and larger mass-independent fractionation of sulfur isotopes than that of 12CS(sub 2). Moreover, flexible polymers with stoichiometries [12CS(sub 2)]x and [13CS(sub 2)]x were generated from the liquid-phase photopolymerization of 12CS(sub 2) and 13CS(sub 2). These products display normal mass-dependent sulfur isotope fractionations.
