Synthesis of mesoporous silica from commercial poly(ethylene oxide)/poly (butylene oxide) copolymers: toward the rational design of ordered Mesoporous Materials

Article Abstract:

Five commercial poly (ethylene oxide)/poly (butylene oxide) (PEO/PBO) triblock copolymer surfactants are used as structure-directing agents to synthesize mesoporous silica under acidic conditions by using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption analysis, and transmission electron micrographs (TEM). CMC of block copolymer surfactant is revealed to be a powerful criterion for the experimental design of synthesis of ordered mesoporous materials.

Doping mesoporous materials with multicolor quantum dots

Article Abstract:

Rapid and precise doping of mesoporous silica beads is achieved with luminescent quantum dots leading to 1-2 orders of magnitude improvements. The results indicate that the doping levels are so quantitative and precise that at least thirty ratios are distinguishable with two colors of quantum dots.

Silicon nanoclusters selectively generated by laser ablation in supercritical fluid

Article Abstract:

A novel method for generating nanomaterials is developed by performing laser ablation of silicon crystals in supercritical fluid. This method generates silicon nanoclusters, and allows the selective generation of clusters having different electronic structures.
