Article Abstract:

German building chemicals group Rinol, Rennignen almost doubled profits from ordinary business activity to DM 27.7mn in 1997, while turnover grew by 53.9% to DM 277.7mn. In the medium term turnover is to exceed DM 1bn, of which more than 50% is to be generated abroad. Rinol continues its very successful strategy of expanding on growing foreign markets. Within the coming two years Rinol is to invest in its production sites in Prague (Czechia), S o Paulo (Brazil) and Berlin-Gratzke (Germany). Most of the growth in 1997 came from acquisitions. With the latest acquisition, French-Belgian Rocland group in March 1998, Rinol conquered the market leading position in Europe.

GERMANY: BAYER TO INCREASE TMP CAPACITY

Article Abstract:

By process optimisation, German Bayer AG is to increase the capacity of trimethylpropane (TMP) production in its Uerdingen plant from 30,000 tons to 40,000 tons per year. At present, Bayer meets about one quarter of the worldwide TMP demand. TMP is for example used for the production of high-quality varnish ingredients.
