Tantalum(V) nitride inverse opals as photonic structures for visible wavelengths

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of an inverse opal thin film colloidal crystal of Ta3N5 along with its photonic properties is described. Silica particle colloidal arrays are used as templates in a two-step synthesis based on their infiltration with Ta2O5 by atomic layer deposition and the conversion of Ta2O5 to the final Ta3O5 inverse opal structure by a nitridation reaction.

In-situ x-ray diffraction study of the crystallization kinetics of mesoporous Titania films

Article Abstract:

The kinetics of titania crystallization in periodic templated mesoporous thin films is examined with a goal of understanding the relationship between atomic-scale cryatallization and nanometer-scale structural change. It is reported that the grain growth behaviour in the wall structure is directly affected by the presence of the inherent pore volume.

Surface plasmon-coupled emission with gold films

Article Abstract:

Sulforhodamine 101 (S101) in thin polymer films on 50 nm thick gold films on glass is examined. Efficient surface plasmon coupled emission is observed through thin gold films.
