The effect of charge on the volume change of DNA binding with intercalator DAPP

Article Abstract:

The difference in volume change of the noncovalent complex formed between calf thymus DNA and the charged and uncharged form of 3,8-diamino-6-phenylphenanthridine (DAPP) are measured to study the effect of ligand charge on DNA-ligand binding. The large differences found in the interaction volume have originated from partial desolvation of the charge of [DAPPH.sup.+] when it is bound to DNA.

Morphological control of ZnO nanostructures by electrodeposition

Article Abstract:

An electrodeposition route for the preparation of oriented and well-defined ZnO nanostructures by kinetically controlling the growth rates of various facets of the deposit by appropriate capping agents is reported. It is shown that morphology evolved from hexagonal tapers to hexagonal rods and rhombohedral rod by changing the compositions of the capping agents.
