The presolvated electron in water: can it be scavenged at long range?

Article Abstract:

The scavenging effects, at low concentration, of the radiosensitizing molecule 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) on presolvation states of the hydrated electron were investigated with the help of femtosecond transient absorption measurements. It was observed that low concentrations of BrdU were seen to enhance the generation of hydrated electrons for excitation at both 267 and 310 nm.

Dynamics of water near a protein surface

Article Abstract:

A model for the dynamics of water near a protein surface is developed and compared with experimental results obtained with femtosecond resolution. The results show that exponential behavior can be fitted to a single exponential, however, the apparent time scale does not represent that of any particular site.

The spectrophysics of warfarin: implications for protein binding

Article Abstract:

The photophysical behavior of the isomers of the anticoagulant drug warfarin in many solvents and solvent mixtures is examined by using a combination of spectroscopic studies. The binding of warfarin to human serum albumin (HSA) has suggested an alternative site or mode of binding for warfarin to HSA.
