The effect of positive ion energy on plasma polymerization: A comparison between acrylic and propionic acids

Article Abstract:

A novel radio frequency (RF) biasing technique was used to control the energy of positive ions at a depositing substrate, independently of other parameters. Mass spectrometry, an ion flux probe, quartz crystal microbalance and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to investigate plasmas of propionic and acrylic and under bias conditions which gave maximum and minimum ion energies.
