Theoretical solar-to-electrical energy-conversion efficiencies of perylene-porphyrin light-harvesting arrays

Article Abstract:

The efficiencies of regenerative organic solar cells that incorporate light-harvesting arrays of porphyrinic organic pigments anchored to a planar, transparent semiconductor surface are calculated. The fine-grained, bottom-up approach toward modeling photochemical features of synthetic materials of known architectures has facilitated the rational design of molecular-based solar cells.

Influence of surface protonation on the sensitization efficiency of porphyrin-derivatized TiO2

Article Abstract:

The photoelectrochemical and transient absorption measurements are used to detect the influence of electrolyte pH on the sensitization efficiency of nanocrystalline, low-surface-area and porphyrin-derivatized TiO2 films. The results indicated that the sensitized photocurrents are turned off at electrolyte pH's above 10.

Insights into dye-sensitization of planar TiO2: evidence for involvement of a protonated surface state

Article Abstract:

The photoelectrochemical properties of planar TiO2 electrodes sensitized to visible light with prophyrin compounds are reported. The charge collection efficiency is directly related to rotonation/deprotonation equilibria of the TiO2 surface.
