Theoretical study of microscopic molecular structure of helicenebisquinone aggregates

Article Abstract:

Molecular level studies of intermolecular interaction forces and microscopic structures are essential to understand molecular aggregates and self-assembly phenomena. The conclusion states that the intermolecular interaction force of HBQ aggregates would be the paired hydrogen bonding between quinone moieties and its molecular structure would be one-dimensional hydrogen bond chain.

Hydration of the CH groups in dimethyl sulfoxide probed by NMR and IR

Article Abstract:

H(super 1) and C(super 13) NMR of dimethyl sulfoxide mistures are measured, together with the IR of DMSO/D2O mixtures in order to study the effect of the polar S=O group on hydration of the CH groups. The role of the S=O group in the hydration of the CH groups is described in comparison with the roles of the hydrophilic groups of acetone and tert-butyl alcohol.
