Thermodynamics of H in disordered Pd-Ag alloys from calorimetric and equilibrium pressure-composition-temperature measurements

Article Abstract:

The thermodynamics of [H.sub.2] solution and hydride formation in a series of disordered Pd-Ag alloys is obtained by using both reaction calorimetry and equilibrium [P.sub.H2]-composition-T data. The enthalpies for hydride formation/decomposition are determined for alloys that have formed two phases, where the enthalpies for hydride formation has become more exothermic with [X.sub.Ag] while the corresponding entropy magnitudes are nearly constant.

Thermodynamics of hydrogen solution and hydride formation in Pd-Mn Alloys. 2. Ordered alloys

Article Abstract:

The thermodynamics of H.sub.2 solution are determined for the L1.sub.2 form, the long-period superstructure (lps), and the disordered forms of the [Pd.sub.0.08][Mn.sub.0.20] and [Pd.sub.0.75][Mn.sub.0.25][[Pd.sub.3]Mn] alloys. It is concluded that very significant thermodynamic differences are found between H.sub.2 solution in the three forms of the Pd-Mn alloy, [Pd.sub.3]Mn, and also for the nonstoichiometric one, [Pd.sub.0.80][Mn.sub.0.20].

The desorption kinetics of flat-lying benzene from palladium (111)

Article Abstract:

The desorption kinetics of benzene from palladium (111) at low coverages using laser-induced thermal desorption Fourier transform mass spectrometry (LITD-FTMS) is examined. The desorption kinetics are adequately described by a first-order rate law and the Arrhenius plots are linear.
