Topographical evolution of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films patterned by micromolding in capillaries

Article Abstract:

A mechanism to explain the formation of the double-peak profile was developed using the imbibition and wetting of the sol-gel in the capillary channels. As a model system, patterned Pb (Zr (sub 0.52) Ti (sub 0.48) O (sub 3) thin films were studied, atomic force microscopic characterization was used to quantity the effect of the rate of gelation on the topography of the patterned thin films.

Heteroepitaxial growth and nucleation iron oxide films on Ru (0001)

Article Abstract:

Heteroepitaxial growth thin iron oxide films on Ru (0001) is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). Metastable FeO (111) layers grow with a thickness up to 4 monolayers (ML) on Ru (0001) by oxidation of the corresponding amount of Fe in 10 (sub minus6) mbar O (sub 2) at 870 K with a final anneal to 1000K.

Growth and oreintation of naphthalene films on Ag(111)

Article Abstract:

The reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) are employed for examining the growth of naphthalene films on Ag(111). The surface infrared spectroscopy selection rule is used for the calculation of the molecular orientation of naphthalene.
