Transport anisotropy of ions in sulfonated polyimide ionomer membranes

Article Abstract:

The ionic self-diffusion and the conductivity in naphthalenic sPI ionomer membranes neutralized by N(CH3)(sub 4)(super +) and Na(super +) is studied. The results indicate that the polymer is organized in a foliated structure with two characteristic scales; one about some tens of nanometers and one about the micrometer.

Anomalous diffusion of water in [BMM][TFSI] room-temperature ionic liquid

Article Abstract:

The self-diffusion properties of butyl-methyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)-imide {[BMM][TFSI]} water system are examined. Results suggest an increase in the self-diffusion coefficient of every species with the quantity of water.

Study of the casting of sulfonated polyimide ionomer membranes: Structural evolution and influence on transport properties

Article Abstract:

A casting process of sulfonated polyimide ionomer membrane is studied. The results show that shearing the ionomer solution during casting may lead to an enhancement of the anisotropy of the structure and of transport.
