Trapping a C2 radical in endohedral metallofullerenes: synthesis and structures of (Y2C2)@C82(Isomers I,II and III)

Article Abstract:

Diyttrium metallofullerenes (Y2C2)@C82(I,II,III) and Y2@C82(I,II,III) are synthesized, isolated, and characterized for the first time by UV-vis-NIR absorption spectroscopy. The results show that at the final stage of growth, highly excited Y2@C84 preferentially evaporates C2 either outward or inward of the cage to stabilize the fullerenes, which leads to pure Y2@C82 and carbide (Y2C2)@C82 metallofullerenes, respectively.

Isolation and spectroscopy study of a series of mono-and dierbium endohedral C(sub 82) and C(sub 84) metallofullerences

Article Abstract:

The successful production, isolation and multistage chromatographic separation of the Er@C(sub 82)(I, II), Er(sub 2)@C(sub 84)(I), and Er(sub 2)@C(sub 82)(I, II, III) isomers are described. The newly synthesized metallofullerenes ER@C(sub 82)(I, II) and Er(sub 2)@C(sub 84)(I) are characterized by LD-TOF mass spectrometry and UV-vis-NIR absorption spectroscopy.

Structure population in thiol-passivated gold nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

A structural characterization of thiol-capped gold nanoparticles as a function of size (2-4 nm) by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The findings indicate a high proportion of defective and complex structure in all samples, which may have become trapped by the growth conditions.
