Tuning of foam film thickness by different (poly)electrolyte/surfactant combinations

Article Abstract:

Disjoining pressure isotherms of free-standing liquid films (foam films) that consist of different polyelectrolyte/surfactant combinations were measured in a thin film pressure balance (TFPB). It was concluded that the film could be divided into three regions, the two interfacial regions with an excess of surfactant and the film core containing a geometrically confinepolyelectrolyte solution.

Charge effects on the formation of multilayers containing strong polyelectrolytes

Article Abstract:

The effect of polymer charge density, polyelectrolyte concentration, and ionic strength is investigated on the formation of multilayer films by sequential adsorption of a polyanion and a cationic statistical copolymer. The resulting polymer films are characterized by ellipsometry and by scanning force microscopy (SFM).
