Understanding the influence of polymorphism on phonon spectra: Lattice dynamics calculations and terahertz spectroscopy of carbamazepine

Article Abstract:

Rigid molecule atomistic lattice dynamics calculations are performed to predict the phonon spectra of the four polymorphs of carbamazepine and these calculations predict that there should be difference in the spectra of all four forms. Tetrahertz spectra are measured for forms I and III and there are clearly different features between polymorphs spectra that are accentuated at low temperature.

Far-infrared characteristics of ZnS nanoparticles measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The far-infrared optical properties and complex dielectric function of ZnS nanoparticles were experimentally characterized by using the THz-TDS technique terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. It was demonstrated that in all the phonon modes in single-crystal ZnS were observed in ZnS nanoparticles due to acoustic phonons of the ZnS nanoparticle were confined.

Phonon-assisted second harmonic generation in As(sub 1-x)Bi(sub x)Te(sub 3)-CaBr(sub 2)-PbBr(sub 2) glasses

Article Abstract:

Phonon-assisted second harmonic generation (SHG) was experimentally observed in halcohalide As(sub 1-x)Bi(sub x)Te(sub 3)-CaBr(sub 2)-PbBr(sub 2) glasses. The parameters of the anharmonic electron-phonon interactions were varied by changing As/Bi ratio to show that the observed effect is caused by anharmonic electron--phonon interaction (EPI).
