V"Contact voltage" in nanoparticle/molecule connections

Article Abstract:

Conclusive evidence are presented that connecting Pt and CO nanoparticles stabilized by an aluminum-organic shell with molecular spacers interacting with this shell can induce notable changes in the electronic structure of the metal. The changes induced by cross-linking with an acidic spacer are discussed as an example to elucidate the mechanism of this effect.

Model for chainlength dependent core-surfactant interaction in N(alkyl)(sub 4) Cl-stabilized colloidal metal particles obtained from X-ray absorption spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The electronic and geometric structure of N(octyl)(sub 4) CI-stabilized cobalt particles using the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra is analyzed. On the basis of the results obtained, a detailed model describing the manner in which protection shell is anchored to the core of the particle is explained.

Structural characterization of a novel catalyst obtained from nanoscopic NiA(sub x) by X-ray absorption spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Detailed understanding of the electronic and geometric structure of a promising novel NiAl(sub x) catalyst is presented. The X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) provides excellent information on nanoscopic systems and their synthesis.
