Vibrational circular dichroism, absolute configuration, and predominant conformations of volatile anesthetics: desflurane

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on desflurane in chloroform solution in the 2000-900 cm-1 region to determine its vibrational adsorption and circular dichroism spectra. The spectra were compared with ab initio predictions of absorption and vibrational circular dichroism spectra derived from density functional theory using B3LYP/6-31G* and B3PW91/6-311G(2d) basis sets. Results suggested that the observed spectral features of desflurane in chloroform solution is due to three different conformers of the volatile anesthetic.

The quadruplex-duplex structural transition of polyriboguanylic acid

Article Abstract:

Spectral changes associated with structural modification of polyriboguanylic acid (polyG) with respect to time, temperature and pH is investigated by vibrational infrared absorption and vibrational circular dichroism. The results show that polyG stabilizes to a quadruplex structure at pH 6.4 and to a duplex structure at pH 3.1 in 5 days.

Temperature influence on the secondary structure of avidin and avidin-biotin complex: a vibrational circular dichroism study

Article Abstract:

Vibrational absorption and vibrational circular dichorism spectra are measured for avidin-biotin complex is presented. The structure of avidin-biotin complex is not significantly different from that of avidin, but binding of biotin increases the number of nonequivalent amide groups.
