Particle size control and self-assembly processes in novel colloids of nanocrystalline manganese oxide

Article Abstract:

Semiconducting nanocrystals of manganese oxide were synthesized. The technique resulted in the formation of ordered arrays and controlled sizes of the crystals. Analysis using small angle neutron scattering (SANS) revealed that the particles are largely unassociated in solution, have dissimilar shapes and have radii ranging from 20 to 80 Angstroms. SANS was also able to verify the growth of the particles in solution through aging, a detail indicated by changes in absorbance.

Spontaneous and self-assembled line formations on silicon substrates with vanadium pentoxide sol-gels

Article Abstract:

The property of vanadium pentoxide sol-gels was executed through X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, pH calculations and concentration calculations. The vanadium sol-gels forms discreet and regular lines with a low solubility metal oxide for line, ring or helix formation and can be used effectively in applications of metal oxides like porous catalyst, battery materials and resistive electronic material.

Tetraalkylammonium manganese oxide gels: Preparation, structure, and ion-exchange properties

Article Abstract:

The structure and ion-exchange properties of tetraalkylammonium (TAA; alkyl = methyl, ethyl, propyl) manganese oxide gels produced from colloidal manganese oxide solutions are presented. TAA manganese oxide xerogels are analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and extended X-ray absorption fine spectra (EXAFS) and can be modeled on an octahedral layered, pseudohexagonal structure.
