Vibrational relaxation of normal and deuterated liquid nitromethane

Article Abstract:

Anti-Stokes Raman scattering is used for monitoring vibrational energy redistribution in liquid nitromethane and perdeuterated nitromethane after ultrafast infrared (IR) excitation of either the symmetric or asymmetric CH- or CD-stretch transitions. The results have predicted the slow interconversion among CH-stretch excitations and the slower relaxation of the asymmetric CH-stretch.

Long-lived interfacial vibrations of water

Article Abstract:

Long-lived OH-stretch ([V.sub.OH]) excitations in water are observed during ultrafast laser ablation by a mid-infrared pulse tuned to the [V.sub.OH] absorption maximum. The spectrum of excitations is measured using incoherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy.

Formation of hydroxyl radicals by collapsing ozone microbubbles under strongly acidic conditions

Article Abstract:

A new approach for the formation of hydroxyl radicals by collapsing the ozone microbubbles under highly acidic conditions is presented. The analysis reveals that the ozone microbubbles are very useful in various water-treatment applications.
