Characterization and HDS activity of cobalt molybdenum nitrides

Article Abstract:

The characterization of cobalt molybdenum nitrides with various cobalt contents are examined by using XRD, TEM, XPS and temperature-programmed reactions with NH(sub 3). The findings indicate that the cobalt molybdenum nitride Co(0-35)973 is more active than cobalt molybdenum sulfide on basis of catalyst weight in the hydrodesulfuriation of thiophene at 623 K.

XPS study of the deactivation and sulfiding of nitrided molybdena-alumina catalyst during the hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophene

Article Abstract:

The deactivation and sulfidation processes of nitrided 12.5% Mo/Al2O3 catalysts at the initial stage were studied on the basis of the behavior of sulfur and nitrogen using XPS spectroscopy. The dibenzothiophene underwent hydrodesulfurization in a fixed-bed microreactor. The catalyst was nitrided using temperature-programmed reaction with pure ammonia at different temperatures. Nitrogen produced from the latter stage was difficult to exchange by deposition of sulfur such that release of nitrogen from the catalyst was hampered.
