AIDS-driven nucleoside chemistry

Article Abstract:

The preparation and characterization of 2',3'-dideoxynucleosides and their acyclic, cyclobutyl and heterocyclic analogs were presented. Substitution, elimination and complexation processes were undertaken in forming these new nucleosides. Some of these compounds exhibited anti-HIV properties that could prove useful in the treatment of AIDS-related diseases. Furthermore, a comparative study involving a HIV reverse transcriptase inhibitor was performed to determine the viability of the compounds as AIDS treatment drugs.

BODIPY dyes and their derivatives: syntheses and spectroscopic properties

Article Abstract:

The syntheses and the spectroscopic properties of the 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (BPDIPY) dyes and their derivatives are discussed. The analysis shows that the fluorescence characteristics of these compounds can be easily altered by changing their structures.

Syntheses of nucleoside triphosphates

Article Abstract:

Research into syntheses of some nucleoside triphosphate analogues is presented. This approach is designed to show how synthetic methods for obtaining nucleoside triphosphates have been used in different ways.
