Alkylphenol ethoxylates: trace analysis and environmental behavior

Article Abstract:

Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) are nonionic surfactants used widely as cleaning agents, dispersants, and emulsifiers, and generally disposed in waste water to municipal sewage systems. Biodegraded APEOs and treated sewage sludge may be environmentally harmful, and 4-nonylphenol constituents may have estrogenic activities at low concentrations. Analysis of APEOs in the treatment stream and effluent requires acidification or other preservation of samples to stabilize the analytes.

Environmental impact of fuel cell technology

Article Abstract:

Fuel cell technology is an efficient technology in both ecological and economical point of view. A fuel cell uses an invariant electrode-electrolyte systems to convert chemical energy into electrical energy. Economic factors decide the type of fuel cell to be used in street vehicles, and alkaline 'space vehicle systems' are the best performing fuel cells. High electrochemical reactivity of hydrogen makes hydrogen as an efficient fuel for fuel cells.
