Calculating log P(sub oct) from structures

Article Abstract:

Different approaches in calculating the hydrophobic parameter from structure are discussed and analyzed. Methods reviewed include calculation by substituents, by fragments using C(sub M), by atomic contribution and/or surface area, by molecular properties, by solvatochromic parameters and by CLOGP program. The methodologies which use addition of fragment values require the inclusion of factors which accounts for the nonadditive properties of polar structures.

Transesterification

Article Abstract:

Transesterification is a chemical process where an ester is transformed into another by the interchange of alkoxy moiety. The various synthetic methods for new catalysts for transesterification that are highly efficient, chemo-, stereo- and regioselective are presented. Enzymatic reactions leading to various transformations which cannot be attained by chemical means and catalytic antibody are also discussed.

Adenosine receptor antagonists: translating medicinal chemistry and pharmacology into clinical utility

Article Abstract:

The analysis of the structure-activity relationships of the ligands synthesized as antagonists for a family of four G-protein-coupled adenosine receptors is described. The results provide insight into the significance of the adenosinergic system in human pathophysiology and development of receptor antagonists with good tissue specificity for drugs research.
