Singlet oxygen O2(1deltag) bimolecular processes: solvent and compartmentalization effects

Article Abstract:

Singlet oxygen play a vital role in biological processes. Singlet oxygen reactions may involve physical quenching, single-reaction dominated processes and mixed competitive chemical processes. It is observed that when more than one process is involved, changing the solvent produces a change on both the rate of reaction and on the relative importance of the different chemical reactions. A detailed discussion on systems wherein the solvent alters only the relative rates of the reactions going through different paths is presented.

Reactions of the atomic oxygen radical anion and the synthesis of organic reactive intermediates

Article Abstract:

The bond breaking and bond making processes resulting to the products in the reactions of atomic oxygen radical anion were studied. The reactions included were with small molecules such as binary hydrides, non-hydrogen-containing diatomics, triatomics and polyatomics. Reactive intermediates were synthesized from specific saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and aromatic compounds. Reactivity of the condensed-phase in water, in liquid argon and on oxide surfaces were also analyzed.

pi-1,1-dimethyleneallylmetal and homologous complexes: Their applications in organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

The preparations and synthetic applications of pi-1,1-dimethyleneallymetal complexes 1a(n=1), comparative to homologous pi-1,1-polymethyleneallylmetal complexes 1b-d (n=2-4) are discussed. The formation and use of pi-1,1-dimethyleneallylmetal complexes extend the scope of applications of the cyclopropane ring in synthetic organic chemistry.
