Molecular recognition of protein-ligand complexes: applications to drug design

Article Abstract:

The interactions of small molecule ligands with protein receptors were reported. The structures of complexes between small molecule ligands and several enzymes which are relevant as drug targets were also investigated. Examples of different ligands binding to the same protein were presented to provide analogies which should help in the structure design process and demonstrate the structural basis of peptide mimicry.

An overview of the studies on biological molecular machines is described with an emphasis on their programmed motions and potential applications to the fabrication of movable nanodevices.
