Luminescent and redox-active polynuclear transition metal complexes

Article Abstract:

Polynuclear transition metal complexes are members of supramolecular species, and exhibit redox behavior and luminescence. Dendrimer-shaped polynuclear complexes are prepared through a divergent synthetic method. Bridging ligands regulate electronic interactions and bind the metal-based components of polynuclear complexes. The significance of bridging ligands in various spectroscopic and redox reactions of polynuclear transition metal complexes are described. A list of bridging ligands and a table of electrochemical and photophysical data is described.

Activation of the Si-Si bond by transition metal complexes

Article Abstract:

A review of research into silicon-silicon (Si-Si) bond activation by transition metal complexes is presented. The review focuses on two aspects of such research: metal complexes that contain a Si-Si linkage and the use of metal complexes as catalysts in Si-Si bond transformations. Many of the studies reviewed were performed since 1985, and the outlook for further research in the field is bright.

Solvent effects on the electronic spectra of transition metal complexes

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to use the Zeng-Hush-Reimers solvent shift technique to gain an insight into solvent effects on metal-to-ligand charge transfer and other electronic transitions in which there is some electron transfer. A significant application for the technique has been to assess the results of electroabsorption experiments.
