Diffuse X-ray scattering from disordered crystals

Article Abstract:

Diffuse X-ray scattering is used to determine the structure and function of crystalline materials. Determination of short-range order and atomic displacements in metallic alloys, and coupled molecular dynamics in protein crystals are discussed. The electronic point counters and standard laboratory X-ray sources are used for diffuse scattering measurements. Diffuse X-ray scattering is also applied to analyze low-dimensional conductors, insulators, and super-conductors.

Modern aspects of the Jahn-Teller effect theory and applications to molecular problems

Article Abstract:

This review elucidates the theory of Jahn-Teller (JT) vibronic coupling effects, comprising JT effects, pseudo JT effects, and Renner-Teller effects, addresses the analysis of polyatomic systems. Research indicates that theory of JT vibronic coupling effects is applied to molecular and crystal stereochemistry, spectroscopy, electron transfer, redox reactions, ferroelectricity, and high-temperature superconductivity studies.

Dyeing crystals

Article Abstract:

This review presents an historical account of dye inclusion crystal (DIC) that contain chromophores or luminophores. Results on dyed sulfates, chromates, phosphates, carboxylates, carbonates, nitrates, halates, halides, amines, amides, and sugars are discussed in terms of dyed crystals relevance to contemporary crystallographic, specteroscopic, and stereochemical analyses.
