Metal complexes as enzyme inhibitors

Article Abstract:

Metal complexes that bind to an enzyme's active site could be used to inhibit the enzyme if excess enzymatic activity is causing disease. However, the metal complex must be specific to that enzyme, must be stable, non-toxic, and bioavailable, and must produce no compensatory effects.

Metal complexes for therapy and diagnosis of drug resistance

Article Abstract:

Inorganic metal complexes may be useful in treating drug-resistant malaria and leishmaniasis. Technetium-sestamibi can be used to identify cancer patients who have a drug-resistant tumor.
