Molecular insights into aminoglycoside action and resistance

Article Abstract:

The current molecular understanding of aminoglycoside action and resistance, focusing on recent structural advances, is described and the emergence of new mechanisms of resistance and evolution of the distribution of resistance determinants is presented in parallel with changes in antibiotic use. Aminoglycosides are active against a wide range of aerobic Gram-negative bacilli, many staphylococci, myobacteria, and some streptococci.

Renaissance of annulene chemistry

Article Abstract:

The numerous advances in the chemistry and reactivity of annulenes, dehydroannulenes, and their benzannelated analogues made since 1985 are described. Annulenes have shown potential as DNA cleaving agents, optoelectronic materials, molecular actuators and sources for novel carbon allotropes besides traditional application as probes for ring current

Femtosecond studies of solvation and intramolecular configurational dynamics of fluorophores in liquid solution

Article Abstract:

The femtosecond fluorescence up-conversion technique is used for analyzing the ultrafast studies of solvation and intramolecular configurational dynamics of large-sized fluorophores in liquid solutions. The application of ultrafast processes can facilitate the in-depth study of the mechanism of molecular relaxation of large-sized molecules.
