Protein radicals in enzyme catalysis

Article Abstract:

Protein radicals such as tyrosyl, tryptophan, glycyl and thiyl radicals have important functions in the enzymes which are involved in primary metabolic pathways. The biosynthesis of these proteins takes place via metal-mediated transformations. These radical-dependent proteins can also be considered responsible for catalytic transformations of enzymes whose catalysis can easily be analyzed.
