Actinide carbonate complexes and their importance in actinide environmental chemistry

Article Abstract:

The high affinity of hydroxide and carbonate to form complexes with actinide ions significantly retards the mobility of actinide ions in ground water systems. Experimental studies indicate that in actinyl(VI) carbonate systems, different complex ions are in equilibrium with one another and with the aquo ion or hydrolyzed species. X-ray diffraction experiments help characterize the structures of these complexes.

Recent advances in the chemistry of heterocarborane complexes incorporating s- and p-block elements

Article Abstract:

Developments in the chemistry of heterocarboranes of groups 1, 2, 13, 14, 15 and 16 elements are discussed. The heterocarborane complexes feature s- and p-block element synthesis and unique structural characteristics. The compounds may be applied in semiconductor material and thin film development. Further studies should be devoted on heterocarborane reaction products and structures.
