Synthesis of oligosaccharides of 2-amino-2-deoxy sugars

Article Abstract:

Vastly improved methods for the synthesis of 2-amino-2-deoxy carbohydrates have been developed since the pioneering Koenigs-Knorr process. The oxazoline route in its updated form remains in wide use since the 1, 2-trans-glycosides are available as natural 2-acetamides. But the highest yielding and most selective routes for the 1,2-trans-glycosides are the phthalimido and the 2-azido methods. The latter is also the method of choice for preparing 1,2-cis-glycosides. Promising progress has been noted in the use of imidates and 1-thioglycosides in the presence of thiophilic promoters.

Application of lanthanide reagents in organic synthesis

Article Abstract:

The use of lanthanide reagents in simple and complex organic synthesis was discussed. Lanthanide reagents are utilized in the transformation of functional groups in reactions such as oxidation, reduction, and Lewis acid-promoted catalysis. The applicability of the lanthanide reagents in carbon-carbon bond forming reactions was also reported. These reactions include substitution, nucleophilic acyl substitution, reductive and oxidative coupling and cyclopropranation, among others.

Amides of trivalent phosphorous acids as phosphorylating reagents for proton-donating nucleophiles

Article Abstract:

Phosphorylation of organic compounds ranging from alcohols to hydride metal complexes is discussed in the general context of organophosphorous chemistry and penta- or trivalent phosphorous atoms catalization. Data on the use of phosphamides in the organic synthesis and its beneficial aspects in resolving phosphorylating mechanisms are presented.
