Three-dimensional hydrocarbon cores based on multiply fused cyclopentane and indane units: Centropolyindanes

Article Abstract:

The development of a novel family of polycyclic organic compounds like centropolyindanes and polyquinanes, which outline their structural features and molecular skeleton, is presented. The orthogonal orientation of the indane units in the centropolyindanes which is inherent to the centropolyquinane cores and the chemical stability and controllable reactivity of the aromatic environment offers great potential for construction of three dimensional, nanosized supermolecular carbon networks and container molecules.

Convergent strategies for syntheses of trans-fused polycyclic ethers

Article Abstract:

Several convergent synthetic strategies and development and application of these strategies for the construction of trans-fused marine polycyclic ethers and their structural fragments are described. It is stated that the trans-fused polycyclic ethers are one of the most characteristic and spectacular classes of compounds isolated from marine sources.
