Time-resolved dynamics of proton transfer in proteinous systems

Article Abstract:

In proteinous systems, time-resolved dynamics of proton transfer require that the solvent offer a potential well to handle the discharged proton and protect it from the negative charge of the conjugated base. It must give an efficient way for the proton to move out into the bulk. Physical chemical properties of solvents control dynamics of proton removal from an acidic moiety and movement into the bulk. Clustering of photon-binding sites on a surface can give that surface greater capacity to attract protons and to direct them to a given site. Microcavities are a factor.

Theoretical studies of chemical dynamics: overview of some fundamental mechanisms

Article Abstract:

Fundamental mechanisms of chemical dynamics, among them adiabaticity and nonadiabatic transition, have been theoretically studied. Great progress has been made in the theoretical understanding of quantum dynamics of chemical reactions, nonadiabatic transitions at potential curve crossings, multidimensional tunneling and characteristics and dynamics of superexcited states of molecules. Both dynamic aspects and theoretical methodologies are of interest.

Active control of the dynamics of atoms and molecules

Article Abstract:

Experimental and theoretical advances have taken place in the field of active control of dynamics of atoms and molecules in chemical reactions. There are now control schemes based on quantum mechanical interference of competing paths and manipulation of wave packets with tailored laser pulses. In controlling the population of specific quantum states there has been experimental progress.
